Some last minute @oatopia.uk flapjacks (carb loading right?) and @precisionfandh electrolytes supplies topped up. Great to see so many of you at the expo and good luck to everyone running tomorrow!

Tomorrow’s goal isn’t time-based for me. It’s going to be a good opportunity for me to practice not going out too fast (have been making good progress on that!) and enjoying the crowds and atmosphere. There’s going to be times where I’ll be getting FOMO to run faster but I’m going to fight that urge to go all out.
As @kipchogeeliud said, enjoy London everyone🙌🏿! (…and don’t eat/wear or do anything new🤪)

Week 3 of Pisa Marathon training:

Leggings are slowly replacing shorts. The days are getting shorter, which means I’ll have to get my head torch out: For the first time, I also ran in Victoria Park in the evening and was shocked that they have no lights in the park, despite it being open til late. If I wasn’t running with someone else, I’d have felt so unsafe!

Two speed sessions banked, and I stuck to my target paces again. Hopeful that I may have resolved my going-out-too-fast issue, but let’s not speak too soon 🤞🏿.

Got some good oly lifts in the bank - went up weights on a few lifts and my teckers is sloooowly improving.

Long run felt an absolute slog. Partially thinking it’s London Marathon maranoia kicking in.

Overall lots of green shoots sprouting 🙌🏿

This is the weirdest few weeks in the lead up to a marathon for me I’ve ever had. Obviously I know I’m doing London Marathon, but at the same time, as I haven’t had the usual 16 weeks up to it, nor am I targeting a time, mentally it feels so strange in prepping for it.

Last double digit long run until @londonmarathon. Running through Greenwich and Tower Bridge one last time before 2 October, when I’ll be wearing the @sportingequals vest.

Today’s long run felt so hard: think I wolfed down the post-long run hot chocolate and croissant as soon as I got them! Was happy to get some PBs on a few of the hills around Greenwich, though I think I’m far off from getting any QOMs 👑!

Several years ago I came across @sportingequals , the charity which increases ethnic diversity across sports as well identifying talent for leadership through its programmes, which help shift existing belief systems away from ‘diversity as tokenism’ to ‘diversity as essential’ for the future success of sports.

A few weeks ago, @brooksrunninguk asked me to run @londonmarathon for the charity this year.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll see that the charity aligns a lot with my beliefs and values.

Running a marathon is no easy feat. While I’m targeting Pisa Marathon in December, plus the short timeline till London I’ve had, I won’t be racing London- it’ll be an easy-fun-paced run more than anything!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be holding raffles for your chance to win prizes too.

A solid week 2 of Pisa marathon training is BANKED

💥 eye infection meant no oly lifting. Now that’s cleared, I’m hoping to get back into it this coming week.

I know strength training isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (or coffee), so here’s a golden tip to strength train when you don’t want to strength train:
listen to comedy podcasts on your runs.

The funnier the podcast, the higher the chance it’ll leave you with sore abs as you laugh while running. You see, it’s important we work those abdomen muscles 💪🏾. And of course, don’t forget to pause your watch when you stop to breathe and recompose from all the laughing mid-run. And unpause when you restart 😉. Nothing’s more annoying than a partially recorded session on Strava.
